Saturday meandering
Feb. 1st, 2009 12:01 amSlept in this morning to let the paint dry at the bottom of the stairs. No use walking on tacky paint! Yes, the red looks good. The carpet will look better, but that's definitely a 2010 project down the path of what's affordable when. A whole world of better though, than the way it looked. Gotta replace two of the steps, then will probably just paint that too to improve basic aesthetics until we can do the main work. And it totally matters! Beautiful things matter in life, and I know I'm always happier when surrounded by them.
Had another adventure today finding the house of these new folks. Mapquest sucks as much as all other internet mapping guides when applied to the magical mystery city of Eugene. That is, the streets move unexpectedly in odd ways taking their names with them. One can be on Bailey Hill Road, then abruptly see a turn up ahead to get onto Bailey Hill Road. If one doesn't take that path, another will come along and then you can be at the corner of Bailey Hill Road and Bailey Hill Road. But if you hit that spot you're actually on Territorial Highway and you should come on back toward town.
Nice house we visited tonight. Kitchen inspired lust for size and shape, but left me a little cold. It needed a great big bouquet of sunflowers in a big red glass vase in the middle of the island, and a few full spectrum bulbs. While I'm all for using mostly the energy efficient ones, their light is pretty cold at night if that's all you have.
Geofry's job interview went well, but they couldn't hire him for a couple of weeks they said. No notion about how things are faring with Symantec.
Got home to watch the end of "Under the Tuscan Sun" with mumsy before she muttered things about being up to late and tore off to bed with cats in tow. She's singing at the 8am service tomorrow morning. Yeah, no kidding. Who knew there was an 8am on Sundays too? Mind boggling. I think she's decided that the gentleman she really likes is playing way too hard to get, and she's of the opinion that life is too short for these types of games. She could be very right. But my mother has her first internet ad ever on a dating service to start looking around. I'm so proud!
Me, I'm tired of being cast over and over as the hero of the romance novels. That is, the one who just sees their mate and knows in their heart that they belong together? Then overcomes all adversity to be with them? It's a lie. Guys are so not like that, most of them. And I don't want to be a guy anymore. I want to be a girl, with all the glory and fun it entails. I'm going to enjoy being a girl a lot more this year. Happy Chinese New Year, I have a resolution after all.
