Doing the hokey pokey
Jan. 20th, 2009 09:58 pmSometimes you take a step forward. Sometimes you find out you've really taken a step back. Then you just shake it all off and turn yourself around. Been a day of moving in good and less good directions, both personally and professionally. I must adjust to different methods of communication. Oddly, writing (which has always been my love) doesn't seem to be working at work or with interpersonal matters. This is new, learning to adjust. I hate the phone though. I spent 6+ hours on it, and resent the thing hugely as an impediment to actually getting things done. Time to grow, I guess.
Got stuff done for work, slowly winning over the VP that got dumped onto my projects for babysitting. As in, holy cow do I look good by comparison with the team I have to work with. And the lesson of never criticizing directly individuals pays off again, as he can see it for himself.
Went to the gym, and rode the bike for 20 minutes before rewarding self with that shower I've craved. Second coat of paint goes on the bathroom tomorrow, so showering possible again by the weekend. (Heavy oil based paint for the bathroom, which has no vent. Taking a shower steams up BIG time, which is super bad for the oil paint when curing. In case ya wondered.)
Insurance looking good to schedule operations at the end of next month. Which puts me down in the Bay near my birthday. Woot!
Mumsy just got back from going to see a friend in a women's choir, that was also celebrating it's 75th year as a group. Mom says they were terrible. As in, butchered things badly, and she was at a loss for what to say. We filled in appropriate compliments, Geof and I, that were both true and kind without actually saying what she thought: "What a beautiful arrangement." "I've always loved that piece of music." "I must look for more pieces by that composer, I think." "You must be very proud." "I loved your hair that way." "There were sections where I was nearly breathless."
Want all my tax documentation to get here so I can file already. This doing nothing until Feb is annoying. Like to have them done by now! Too many mortgages last year will at least equal a little boost for the return.

Date: 2009-01-21 06:15 pm (UTC)We've all learned the lesson that just because someone else criticizes their stuff doesn't give YOU license to do the same.

Date: 2009-01-21 02:26 pm (UTC)Oh good, glad to hear someone else complain about the lack of expediency given to tax documentation this year. My rants fall on deaf ears, even my own tune me out.
Hiya! Thought something of a greeting should be made since I neglected up above... rude and something I'm quite prone to omitting.
