Okay, I'm warming to this whole having events in hotels thing. The Valley River Hotel was really nice, and really really worked closely with the autocrats in everything from decor to food. Lovely brunch. Met a bunch of nice folks. Got some more enthusiasm back, in some ways. Cheap masks! Pretty embroidery. John needs new clothes. Clearly I have some work to do.

But there's been a couple events in a row where I really felt there could have been more to do during the day. There's knitters and scribes and craftsmen...where were the fun competitions for them? I was imagining a scribe's room where besides the standard scroll competition, they do something like pick a theme. (Apparently most of the white scarves up here have no scrolls, so thinking of them in particular.) Why not an on-site competition? Iron Calligrapher. Speed calligraphy for the kids. Speed knitting for all those yarn enthusiasts. Something to introduce each other for future useful projects, guilds, maybe teach people how to do things.

Missing kid activities in general. But this is a somewhat older crowd than I'm used to as a general rule, with not so many kids at all. Ladies boffer and random throwing daggers of sudden death? Where was the Borgia game, of a weekend of Murder? Heh heh. Okay, maybe I'm going overboard here.

There's a young gal I  may adopt as Junior Squishie, though will have to watch her a bit. She's not as cool and fantastic as my Squishie, but she's so very very young.

John's off at the Airport by now. I got mom the grey to paint the bathroom while I'm off in Atlanta. Another gallon of mis-mixed paint for $5 that I may drag down to John's.

No jetted tubs for me. But I've discovered something incredible. Have you ever seen those toilets with all the controls on them? No? Let me tell you. They have heated, massaging seats. They flush, sure. But then they can do so much more. No need for a separate bidet, this baby does it all. I don't know where the water comes from, but I want it.

Lots of work to do, and I'm going off to Atlanta this next week on Tuesday. (I'd have gone Monday, but have a class in the evening I've already paid for.)

I'm not certain why I'm here but that squishie told me to say hello. We both love Neil Gaiman? Surprising to me, even after reading this post, I'm not certain how old you are. That in itself strikes me as a fantastic talent to have.

Well... hello :)

Feel free to come see me, although most of my posts are friends only now that I think about it. You may or may not choose to friend me, but I will do so simply at the recommendation of someone who's quite cool!
