Well, the boy's home and looking dapper in a pea coat and uniform. Sailor suits are so cute! Though I thought adorable, and that's not quite the right reaction they look for. There was a storm in Portland, and after landing at 1pm, got to Eugene at 10pm, basically. Poor blighter. The dog, Gimli, is quite beside himself with joy. Capered madly and everything.

Picked mom's car up from the doctor's office. Turned out the not starting was a bad cell in the battery after all. But while it was in there they did oil and checked belts, and replaced them. So a quick $300 later, and it's drivable. I want to get the alignment checked and need to get it registered here on Monday, then will probably take it down to the Bay when Dave and I come. Woot!

Sanded a lot on the frame today. Mom has had three distinct laughs at how bad I am at crafty sort of things. Her instincts about sanding and staining and fixing and recycling stuff into new forms are much like her gardening skills in things that completely skipped a generation. These projects do not come naturally to me, which in a weird sort of way makes them mean more when I try them. My only leanings this way are to compulsively clean up the mess I just made all over the living room.

I'm also incapable of painting or staining anything without getting it on myself. People should do arts and crafts naked. And house painting.

Went and pulled out my winter coat from the storage shed at last. I surrender. It's no longer summer.

Got some folks coming for games and food on Christmas. Dave and Julie from the gaming group, Carla will pop in after familial obligations, Jamie and Rae, Dave in town, Ian, Mom and I. The more the merrier! If you're in the Eugene/Springfield area, feel free to pop in for waffles, gumbo, and board games. Possibly some bridge.

I love painting in the nude! (Except for the hair -- it must be carefully hidden under a kerchief...naked hair much harder to clean than clothed hair...)

Bonus: painting naked really startles your set designer.

Although ALL arts and crafts??? Hmmm...glue gun mebbe not so much :^D
