Small victories

jeanvieveOrder over chaos: Water flowing through the hot pipes again. Maybe the water coming out isn't hot yet and clearly there's still ice blockages making the flow a little less. But there's water moving again at last, and that's victory enough! Soon as the boy wakes up, I'll send him down into the subterranean realms to look for any leaks again. Hurray for probably not needing an expensive plumber visit!
Plus got a design for new front steps, since I tripped down my sucky ones again a couple days ago. Something simple to tide us over until we can re-pour and pave a new front walk and steps.
Discussed the bathroom - going to leave mom with a gallon of oil based paint and some fresh primer, as she wants to do naughty things to it while we're all away for the holidays. She's off now on a blind date for coffee.
I'm back inspired to do fun things around the house like painting and sprucing up. May do a wall in my room tonight, or the downstairs little hallway in a soft rose. I think we've come to the decision to fix the broken steps on the staircase, then just recarpet it in some nice basic berber. Or at least I've come to that conclusion, and will make it happen. Next summer, say, along with the painting of the outside.
Mom's hitting some of the bad seams in the kitchen with putty. It'll make repainting much easier, and maybe we won't have to do as much repair. Just a little sanding. Still need that second storage shed to clear the back porch room. That place needs a lot of attention and work, plus we need to bring the hot water heater into a heated part of the house. Or at least insulate it out there. Some of the decisions the previous owners made make no sense.
Off to meetings.
