An unexpected rant
Sep. 30th, 2008 10:30 amI am responsible for the most thankless, miserable, love-to-hate-it process in our entire organization. As a messenger for both sides of development vs. the process police I've been shot at, shot down and belittled, with the whole process denigrated by our executives in one meeting, then immediately in the next meeting held up as responsible for the success of our launches. It's an odd sort of process, describing which the execs can say in one breath that is guaranteed to fix all the problems from back office issues to making sales quotas, and in the next temporize it with requests to circumvent, avoid, lighten, and 'streamline', then refuse to backfill the executors that understand it enough to make it a success. If I hadn't developed a sense of the rediculous by now, I'd have run mad.
And to top it off, with today's re-org, I now answer to the guy that's spent the last 12 months arguing with it, fighting it, forgetting about it, and escalating me to upper management. Won't this be fun.
Thank you. Back to work, you slackers!
