It was very good.
The whole camp went on the Jeannie diet with me, god bless 'em, so we had tons of meat, vegetables, fruit and a lot less starch and fat this year. I only gained 3 lbs (a new record, giving my huge alcohol intake traditional to the event with the calories therein) and already lost them while back home. Today marks my 20 lbs loss from the beginning, and I tried on my favorite jeans. Okay, so they still don't quite fit closed. BUT! They totally fit on my legs and hips again. I'll tote them out again in another 10 lbs for another look.
The adventures of the shower in week one were a bit amusing. I confess that my faith was weak, and I was delighted to be proved wrong by frithuric and the boys. Sheepshank and Henrik were very good humored about helping me fish my glasses out of the bottom of the 50 gallon water drum when I was dumb. But lots and lots of hot, pressurized water was ours, and it was bliss.
Casa Bardicci was our next door neighbors, replacing Ravenspittle. Though I'll miss Phineas, I'm not sorry to see the rest of the camp go. Hijinks this year were quiet, sedate. We set their casa on fire only one eensy time, and stayed up late to retaliatory spray their stealth ninjas with fire extinguishers the next night during the Hoity Toity party.
Fiore learned how to make bread in the dutch oven and produced many glorious loaves that made the perfect addition to meals. Now we're resigned to always getting one or two loads of firewood to encourage this behavior.
The steak night with wine tasting went pretty well, I thought. Bottles A-L were presented for the committee, which got smashed in short order. Pony and Karen brought me a bottle of Tokay, which made my evening mellow indeed. Although the morning was trickier.
Lots of bridge and music in camp. I'm crushed that Otto and Wynn piked it - yes you, Otterbabe! Pikers! You would have just loved it, and I'm totally going to rub it in as you didn't tell me you were not going to make it.
The Westie Luau was again terribly fun, with the best mai tais on earth. I avoided the mai tai incident by being only slightly tipsy this time. Played some Eagles, Beatles, Belafonte, the usual. Actually played some Irish too this time, so not entirely Rock n Roll.
Geva in camp was great. Must always have an OCD around to clean up and organize! Rock on.
Sir Brucie, Tink, and Don will be here tomorrow morning for the weekend. Woot!
