New schedule. Monday to Friday, which I love. Noon to 8, which I love a lot less. How to get to 10-6. Hmmm.. Its training, which I actually enjoy as that involves lecturing a lot. And troubleshooting, which is frankly how one gets attention. I need to learn how to do that more, get the right sort of attention and impress people to get on with a career. (Right up until I abandon it to be a student again.)

I've had it said to me over and over, that I don't sell myself well enough. Maybe they're right, but I'd also need to resolve to dedicate more "off" time to thinking about work, and that's the last step that's hard to make.

Go Raiders, beat the Jets.

Buccs won. I think it'd be lovely to have the two piratical teams do well in the same day.

I'd kind of wanted a quiet day to myself, as yesterday was a frenzy of cleaning up from Christmas, defrocking a tree, and other puttering household things I put off too long. Alas, the commodity of Jeannie is doing too well on the stock market, and everyone wants a share. Cheri is coming up to go to the movies. Thinking I may ask Kat to go, and get my guilt driven socialization out of the way. Then maybe a quiet evening with my Aunt, who should be arriving 9pm or so.

**hours pass**

So the world changed unexpectedly. Cheri showed up, and hard on her heels my mother and niece, waiting for my aunt. Who wasn't due for hours. I took the girls to see Chicago, since I loved it the first time. It was still magnificent.

My aunt never quite made it. Called, said she was coming in an alternative route. Right by Mom's house, in fact, and Mom had come down to meet her. Mom's fleeing north to catch her sister. Luckily, they left me a bottle of the blueberry champagne. I consider it darned friendly of them. Narrowly dodged the bullet of having to clean the guest room.

Miss him very much. Hard to be content when even my room doesn't smell the same without him in it. And oddly when referring to a man, I mean that in a good way.

In other news, Dave spent time loading music onto my high tech christmas present. Supposed to hold 150 hours of music, they say. Can't get the bastard thing to play, I say. What good is an expensive toy if it doesn't work? And has a limited shape for other entertainment value, not to mention a lack of vibration. Feh, I say again.

Started CS Friedman's latest book, This Alien Shore. My God, can that woman write science fiction. The highest praise one can accolade in this context is that I have so many ideas for how I can steal her brilliant little plot vignettes. She has a fabulous idea of the spacing Guild, not unlike some ideas in Fading Suns though more extreme. And cool. May go read instead of mushing..

Woops, Dave's home. Maybe he can make expensive paperweight useful.
