It always snows on my birthday...
Mar. 12th, 2006 10:48 pmWhen I was growing up, I always thought of myself as having been born in Spring. March sometimes had Easter, and always Lent, (which truth be told I didn't think quite so much about as Easter and bunnies being a kid) and colors like green and purple and gold in the flowers coming up. I had sunny birthday parties, in which outdoor games are played, and people could wear light party dresses.
So Colorado was really quite a shock. This whole nonsense of snow on my birthday and all through the month has turned me from a Spring baby into a Winter baby and I'm under protest!
But Kat and Dave did throw me a lovely party. Gaming and food and delightful friends around. Some few folks were silly enough to ask me what I wanted, and others just bought me the socks on assumption. I made out like a sock bandit! The vague anxiety I was starting to feel about being down to only 10 pairs of socks is assuaged.
Andro gave me a zoomy leather computer bag. Apparently my IBM blazoned nylon was embarassing to be seen around. But it had goodies which I'm trying out now. The cordless mouse works better than my old usb laser mouse did. Trying out the battery - Yup! Perfect fit! Can now abuse the world for longer at 30,000 feet on airplanes. Me so happy. Many socks from Cheri and Dave. Roses from Gina and Karl, and a lovely candle. Chocolates and a neat music bag from Carrie and Matt were waiting for me when I got home. All in all, much more of a haul than I was expecting. Especially as I didn't ask for anything, except when Cheri asked what I wanted. Silly question. I always want socks.
I'm not sure what to do with the sheep though.
