A better moon
Jul. 8th, 2009 11:21 pmIt's been a lovely week. I've finished taking in two dresses, and taken apart my engineer's coat down to some basic elements to stare at it and see if it can be salvaged into some new form. Maybe for fencing practice. I think it's time to take up fencing again.
I'd set the fitness goal for the summer to be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. Alas, I met my goal too soon last Thursday, by running 32 minutes and 2.38 miles. 80 lbs down - go me! Now can I run for 45 minutes, or 3 miles in 35 minutes. There's an interesting question.
Went with John to see The Hangover, which I found hysterical in a way that reminded me of certain parties Kirti and I used to hold back in Colorado when we lived together. Waking up, not knowing what happened, wondering where so and so disappeared to - yup, that's it all right. I lost a critical 30 minutes at New Year's once, and still feel cheated by it. But given that we're all about to traipse out to Vegas to watch Cathyn and Laina get married in a few weeks, the movie was well timed and full of helpful advice for his bachelor party.
Done commuting up to Oakland - Brigit is back. Eric is off to LA, so no workout buddy for a week.
Luckily Amy and her two kids are due into town sometime tomorrow. I've got some passes to sneak her into 24 hour with me, if we can figure out the kid's club. Taking Amy to the Geoffrey war on Sunday, as it's close. No doubt we'll find lots of cheap, fun things to do as we're both on a budget.
After she leaves, I'm off to Atlanta for a week in hell. Okay, it might not be total hell, but some very muggy version of Purgatory. Perhaps this time no food sickness. Plus I get to meet up with Bill, and do dinner with Beda. So this might be the first really positive southern experience ever.
Mom is for sure off to Australia in September. She'll have fun, I have no doubt. Pony says she'll be back there at the same time, so will make sure she's getting acclimated.
House goes on sale in September. Fiat!
Finishing projects and feeling smug. That's all for now.
