Sacred Harp singing
Mar. 31st, 2009 02:59 pmJohn's home early. Brother Rex just got his appendix out, adding challenges to the whole situation. Go Rex, get better!
Went with Hal to Sacred Harp singing in Berkley last night, a couple blocks away from the usual New Year's Eve Ball site at the International House. It was fun! I know a number of folks that would likely enjoy it very much. It's Solfege-lite, which seems to help non-musicians learn to read music. I didn't see the movie Cold Mountain, but apparently it's used there as a good period American tradition. A little nosing about on the web confirms there's a fair bit of it across the country still.
More good conversations. An unexpectedly strong emotional reaction I'm still a little unnerved by, as it's not like me. Or maybe it is like me? Much to figure out.
A place in town up in Eugene is going out of business, selling it's flooring cheap. Mom talked me into ordering the kitchen floor early. Can pay it off over the next few months, but really hope Geof starts paying rent soon.
