A better weekend
Feb. 21st, 2009 12:56 pmOkay, this was as suck a week as I've had since Atlanta. My boss' boss just proved they're cut from the same cloth. I'll play the game for a while, but it's a stupid and childish game and I'm hunting for another spot elsewhere to get out of it. I have two boys (can't call them men) projecting emotions onto a situation that should be professional, built on mutual respect. I do not need nor want micromanagement, and when I need the support of my manager I want to be in a situation where I can expect it rather than the whining, backstabbing weasel.
And now I will think on them no more.
Turns out that Barnes & Noble was having a 40% off sale for TV series, and with my membership that's another 10% off. So now I have Nero Wolfe the complete set and Rome season 2 for very reasonable rates. We will pick up where we left off, with Caeser's funeral. Woot!
While there, I sat and perused the architecture section, which is just another extension of my house porn fetish. Found a set of architects that really capture the style I love, so I wrote some names and details down. Also found an interesting book on prefabrication, and some of the latest advances in building pieces of houses/walls/etc and then shipping them to the site. The book declares that it saves a lot of money on hourly construction site costs, so I'll start doing some online shopping and considerations. That combined with the do-it-yourself stacking of the eco friendly foam crates could make for a really large and nifty house that's comparably affordable to build. If you're willing to do finishing work yourself.
I need to learn more about building loans and such. Ah, so much to know in the world.
Aunt Dana is here, and is really in a bit of a state about her relationship with Uncle John. I'm very fond of her, but she's, well... batty. And I think needs to fix her own head soon, but at least they're in counseling. Mom's oldest cat is ill. She's 11, and has the flu or something worse. I look at my 16 yo tabby who still acts 3 and wonder if she's immortal as she seems to be.
