Was a good day today for accomplishments. Finally got the office room turned into an office, at least on my side. Discovered that we do actually have an electrical outlet! Wondering how hard it would be to put another one in just further down the wall. I mean, it's behind an open wall, clear access and everything.
Hm. Perhaps I'll go stare speculatively in the cable aisle at the hardware store. I know John told me which one to get for wiring switches and outlets, but it only half stuck in my brain. A good looking man in an apron likely can point more and be refreshing.
Also got my last bookcase shelves in, and the whole thing moved over to surround me in an office-type space. Books organized, which I find oddly soothing. Went through my files, and chucked out the old unnecessary papers from the old house given that I didn't really care what my electrical bill was back in 2005. Just keep the tax statements and the contributions. Now I need a corkboard over my desk to pin up photos that make me smile.
So why do we live in a nation of prudes where one cannot offer sexual favors to strangers in exchange for yard work in the paper? Grass makes my skin itch, and just finished raking up mounds of it, then sweeping. Mom's out edging anytime we get a full charge on the weed whacker. I'm inclined to again agree with John that something that stays plugged in with lots of power has it's advantage. Also starting to keep an eye on Craig's list for people selling power mowers. We've been borrowing the neighbor lady's, but I find that vaguely annoying. It offends my independent streak.
Tomorrow we rip the carpet up in Geofry's room and pull up the tack strips. Mom's throwing a taco party, so having folks over. I plan to steal Carla upstairs for card games of Catan or some such while Mom entertains the old folks. Yes, the immediate neighbors are coming.
