So Jeannie's Killer Weekend, aka "INTERVENTION!!" went really well. We descended like locusts on John's house with the goal of painting his bedroom and bathroom. Over and over, "Well, we could also paint-" "OUT OF SCOPE!" "Right."

Laura and I took on the bathroom, going with a trendy blue and chocolate theme. Uncle John and Aunt Dana did his bedroom, a warm sandy color with a dusky blue accent wall. The accent wall was intended to be gold. It was, in fact, briefly gold. Picture if you will eight people standing in an empty room, frowning at a wall. Nope. The gold just didn't fly. Okay, how about a blue? A frantic tour of blue, finding everything from stuffed frogs to book covers to bicycle pumps to hold up different shades of blue against the other colors. Aha! His wall is now officially "Box full of cones of incense" blue.

Another small snag - the bed in a bag set only had one set of drapes. I would have sworn online it said two. Going back to see if I can scare up another set of drapes that match, though it doesn't look bad with one pane for each window. If they were centrally tied with blue ribbon or swagged to one side with a hook, it'd work too.

The cool thing - John's mom and bro showed up to help out all weekend. The boys are going to do follow up for me and add crown molding to the rooms when one of them is back from a vacation or work trip or some such. Kurt had the neighbors bring him presents when they saw him taking care of the yard. Mom told him that he should take his shirt off while he worked and see if they'd bring us cookies too. He just laughed.

Thanks to James for organization help in the living room. Small changes can make huge improvements, and the overall effect took many by surprise.

When we left, it looked totally spiff. Yay! I hear mom and Kurt went back on Sunday, but my part was done so I totally went goofing off to Dim Sum, and then Wine tasting in Livermore. Tried to find an olive press, but the one we found was uninspiring after the Napa place. So mom and I stopped at a roadside place called "The Olive Pit" on the way home and got a 6 month supply of olives. Yum!

Got back, now have Pony's Skype and chatted with Geofry. Looks like the boy is incoming a week from today. Now to get my own house in order!
