Atkins ho!
Nov. 16th, 2006 02:18 pmOkay. You all have convinced me to give it a try. (Along with this book I bought cheap some months ago.) Threw out half my fridge, and went to the store to try the 14 day crash course into Atkins. Just in time for Thanksgiving - well. Only thing I'll really really miss is the stuffing. Not a pie girl really.
So. 1pm, have taken in 8 grams of carbs so far. Only 12 more allowed today, and going over to Madoch & Elisava's for dinner and to help them make patterns. Told him no flour or sugar in snacks please, to get a response of "What else is there??". This is going to be tricky. Madoch wants a new fencing doublet, no clue what Sara wants.
Luckily there's still broccoli and spinach, or I'd whine in a corner. And whole foods makes a kale salad that I don't hate either. Actually, I'd order it by choice. Yummy chunks of ginger with sesame oil. Mm.
But needed to do something drastic. Being tired and listless and vaguely down was NOT being me, and I wanted to be me again. The book promises I'll stop craving potatoes shortly. At least I've gotten back to daily yoga, and according to all the sportscasters twice in a row is a 'winning streak'. Riiiight. Dave's off to Virginia, so maybe to the gym with Amy tonight.
Have had fun on Vienna running a couple of ghost stories for players there. Wish someone would run them for me, but you can't have everything in the world and its a creative outlet I'm enjoying. Eventually logs of some of it will be up on http://www.viennamux.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
but right now I'm just not a wiki savvy log posting kinda gal. Actually, its the navigation I fail at. I read wiki logs that aren't there now? Losing my mind? Who can say!
Anyway. Good to do creative things again. Have two platters now ready for firing if I can get them to a store. Looking through kitchen porn magazine - I'm going to have to learn to do some woodworking to be truly happy. Or convince Amy and all to move out to Oregon as well. Hmm!
Going to start trying to record successes/failures here to hold over my head on this whole 2 week rollercoaster of Life Without Tater Tots.

Low Carb
Date: 2006-11-16 09:43 pm (UTC)Good luck with your diet. I'm planning to lose 8-18kgs. Definitely 8kg of weight, and a greater measure of body fat (I like myself muscular). Keep me updated how it goes, and much love from England *smooches*!

Date: 2006-11-17 04:20 pm (UTC)Trying to do yoga daily. Fencing is fabulous - I played epee for quite a few years and really enjoyed it. It does very nice things for your legs and derriere.
November depression? You're all backwards, lady! There's always Christmas to look forward to! Now, a proper February case of the blahs..
Re: Low Carb
Date: 2006-11-17 04:59 pm (UTC)Good on ya! I lost 3 lbs yesterday, but that also included yoga and a trip to the gym for cardio and situps.
Wow, good one! I'm still in my period, so full of water in my cells. Gah. I was thinking to include Yoga, Pilates or Muay Thai (I'm scared of Muay Thai, but I think it's dead sexy - maybe when/if I have my muscles back) as well, somehow in my day. It's getting crowded - stupid work takes too much time out of my week.

I need a class that's not bound to a gym. I don't go to a gym every day. Sometimes, when I'm writing, my week is a bit more irregular... but it's supposed to be great for the back and just about everything.

I'm still on foil. Mat does epee. From the look of it, I am somewhat attracted to sabre... I like the swinging motions.

Mat's ... parts are fantastic in that. Okay, he has the whole background in Tae Kwon Do, but fencing certainly doesn't harm him there. I think my legs/derriere are getting more toned, definitely, and I like the psychological aspect of it... the tricking and the rhythm with somebody else. It's very intense and leaves me grinning happily - and as a lefthander, I have to work less hard - I confuse about everybody ...

Hmmmm. Now I have two months to be careful about... November is usually bad because my mum died. Next week, 11 years ago. Just barging through winter so far with sports, good food, shinies I get for myself, and hopefully, soon again, writing.
